The Cup was possible only by the endeavours of the members of the Academy including Sukhdip Singh Deol, President; Kuldip Singh Bassi, Coach (and President, Wrestling Federation of Australia) ; Hardev Gill, Vice-President; Sarabjot Singh Dhillon, Secretary; Manvir Singh Lidhar, Treasurer; Mandeep Singh Johal, Member; Hardeep Singh Bassi, Member; Harjinder Singh, Member and Dalvir Singh Gill, Member.
The coach Kuldip Singh Bassi is the only Indian to participate in the Common Wealth Australian Games.
The commentary was done by Rozy Khaira, Satta NZ Ranjit Khera and Charnamat Singh.
Apart from the match, a cultural program was also organised including Open Singing stage, Dustar competition, Junior and Senior Kabaddi competition, Volleyball Competition, Giddah and Bhangra, Male and Female Athletics, Jumping Castles, Face Painting.
The event was an alcohol free one with ‘langar’ and a variety of food stalls.
The competition proved to be a big success and Melbourne Kabaddi Academy grabbed the first prize, whereas the second prize was won by Melbourne Punjabi Sports Club.
