fashionMelbourne based designer Dimple Shah is a perfect example of transforming a dream into reality through hard work and dedication. Hailing originally from Vadodara, Gujarat, Dimple is a qualified Civil Engineer and has five years’ experience in Civil and Construction Industry. Despite her education, her interest has always been in fashion. As a result, she decided to take the brave step out of her profession as an engineer and follow her passion of dress designing, entering a new world of colours, glitters and fabrics.

Initially, Dimple started with a small business in the form of a designer dress boutique which she named ‘Aakar,’ located in Vadodara. Her innovative ideas found a huge market; as soon as her business was launched, people lined up to snap up her quality pieces.

Despite seven years of success, Dimple and her husband applied for Australian Permanent Residency to discover the fashion capital of Melbourne, although she was sad to leave her flourishing dress designing business.

In 2008, Dimple flew to Melbourne with her husband and five year old daughter, Drashti. She wanted to raise her daughter full-time, but her call to fashion was overwhelming.
Dimple decided to work from home whilst caring for her daughter. She soon joined an advanced course in Australian Dress Designing and Stitching before setting up a small boutique called ‘Dimple Creations’ in Spotswood.

Her dedication to her success was remarkable. She distributed flyers to the nearby suburbs, grocery stores and various community events, and the response and support from the community was overwhelming. Her ‘ready to wear’ as well as ‘made to measure’ couture was very popular. Within a year, her business was booming and after two years she moved her boutique to Hoppers Crossing.

Her Elegant Indian and Western Couture includes elaborate use of ‘gotta’ work, ‘zardosi’ alongside crystal embellishments. Her collection is vast, internationally inspired and globally connected. Dimple’s client base of more than 1000 customers include clients from varied backgrounds, including Asians, Australians and Africans.
